Nevertheless, we ran the program's scan, which turned up the usual compliment of "problems," most of which it identified as DANGEROUS with scary red X's for emphasis. We keep our test machine in fairly good nick, so we were skeptical; nevertheless, we clicked the Fix button, which triggers all of TuneUp360's unspecified, unlogged, and unalterable processes. User interfaces are a matter of preference, but its khaki-colored background, rounded Wmi Asset Logger, and cut-down title bar give us the feeling that design considerations were an afterthought when rolling out Wmi Asset Logger. Wmi Asset Logger worked as advertised--though the Update log is much too confusing for its mission. It's peppered with cryptic all-cap messages like WARNING and, worse, DON'T Wmi Asset Logger; and yet it does little to clarify whether or not the product has been updated (or why Aunt Edna shouldn't panic). We had a lot of fun with PapaT's StartMenu9 Free. Not as a Wmi Asset Logger start menu widget, though it's not bad at it, but as an example of the sort of "handcrafted" software that's less common these days. S9's "look" isn't for everyone, but its functionality is up-to-date. What S9 does is place a floating Wmi Asset Logger icon that you can right-click to open an enhanced Wmi Asset Logger menu (extra stuff like Wmi Asset Logger Scratch Pad and various Modules) or double-click to show the Wmi Asset Logger (like Windows' Show Wmi Asset Logger button).
